1. Definitions

In these terms:

• "Hearthen" or "we" refers to the studio operating under the name Hearthen, located at 36 Jalan Imbi, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.
• "Participant" or "you" refers to an individual who attends or books a Hearthen workshop or facilitation session.
• "Workshop" refers to any structured group session open to the public, including the Couples Communication Workshop.
• "Facilitation session" refers to a privately arranged Family Mediation Facilitation meeting or any session arranged under a Family Communication Year membership.
• "Membership" refers to the Family Communication Year, a twelve-month household membership arrangement.
• "Workbook" refers to any printed or digital materials distributed to participants in connection with a session.

2. Nature of Services

Hearthen provides structured facilitation and communication workshops. All activities are educational and facilitative in nature. Nothing offered by Hearthen constitutes counselling, psychological treatment, legal advice, or any other regulated professional service.

Facilitators at Hearthen are trained in community facilitation practice. They do not diagnose, advise on personal decisions, or act as representatives for any participant in any matter outside the session itself.

Participation is voluntary and intended for adults (18 years and over) who wish to engage in structured conversation practice.

3. Booking and Confirmation

A booking is confirmed when Hearthen sends you a written confirmation of your place, typically by email. Enquiries submitted through our website do not constitute a confirmed booking.

For facilitation sessions, confirmation follows an initial pre-meeting or telephone conversation to discuss the arrangement. No facilitation session will proceed without confirmation from all relevant parties.

4. Fees and Payment

Current session fees are as follows:

All fees are in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and inclusive of applicable taxes. Payment details will be provided at the time of booking confirmation. Hearthen reserves the right to update fees; any change will be communicated in advance and will not apply to bookings already confirmed.

5. Cancellation and Rescheduling

Workshops. If you are unable to attend a confirmed workshop, please let us know as early as possible. We will do our best to find an alternative date if one is available. Fee arrangements for cancellations are discussed at the time of booking.

Facilitation sessions. Where a session needs to be rescheduled, we ask for at least 48 hours' notice so that we can arrange an alternative time. Cancellations with shorter notice may not be rescheduled without a separate arrangement.

Memberships. Annual memberships are arranged for twelve months and are not transferable to a different household. If your circumstances change, please contact us to discuss your situation.

6. Participant Conduct

Hearthen sessions are intended to be respectful spaces for structured conversation. We ask all participants to:

• Treat other participants and facilitators with consideration throughout the session.
• Arrive at the scheduled time so that the session can begin for all participants.
• Keep the content of private facilitation sessions confidential. Facilitators hold session content in confidence and expect the same from participants.
• Engage with the structured conversation in good faith. Facilitators may pause or conclude a session if conduct becomes disruptive or unsafe.

7. Workbooks and Materials

Printed workbooks distributed during sessions are for personal use only. The content of workbooks — including exercises, frameworks, and prompts — is prepared by Hearthen and remains our intellectual property.

Participants are welcome to use workbook materials in their own personal conversations. Reproduction, redistribution, or use of workbook content for commercial purposes is not permitted without our written agreement.

8. Facilitation Scope

The facilitator's role is to structure and support conversation. Facilitators do not take sides, give advice on personal decisions, or act as a representative or advocate for any participant. Facilitation summaries describe agreements reached by participants themselves; they do not represent the opinion or recommendation of Hearthen.

Hearthen facilitation is not a substitute for legal counsel, family mediation under a licensed framework, or any form of regulated professional service. Participants who need those services are encouraged to seek them from appropriate professionals.

9. Membership Terms

The Family Communication Year membership runs for twelve months from the date of activation. It covers one household of up to six adults.

Included in the membership are: attendance at any public workshop run by Hearthen during the membership year; up to four facilitated family sessions scheduled through the studio; and printed workbooks for each session attended.

Membership benefits do not carry over beyond the twelve-month period and are not transferable to a different household. Renewal is available at the fee applicable at the time.

10. Limitation of Liability

Hearthen provides facilitation and workshop services in good faith. We do not make assurances about the outcomes of any conversation or session, as these depend on the participants themselves.

To the extent permitted under Malaysian law, Hearthen's liability in connection with any session or arrangement is limited to the fee paid for that session. We are not liable for indirect or consequential effects arising from participation.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. We will always seek to resolve any concern through direct conversation in the first instance.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date shown at the top of this page. Changes will not affect bookings already confirmed under the previous version.
