What working with Hearthen
actually gives you

More than a session — a structured space, trained facilitators, and materials that travel home with you.

Six things that distinguish our work

Each of these comes from a deliberate decision about how facilitated family conversation should feel and what it should leave behind.

Trained, not improvised

Every facilitator at Hearthen has completed formal training in structured dialogue before working with participants. Sessions follow a tested framework, not an improvised agenda.

  • Formal facilitation training
  • Monthly peer review process
  • Updated annual materials

Paced for real people

We build rest periods into every session. Participants are not asked to resolve complex topics in one sitting. The structure supports reflection, not pressure.

  • Rest breaks every segment
  • No forced conclusions
  • Reflection time built in

Tangible materials

Every participant leaves with a printed workbook and a prompt card. The conversation does not end when the session does — it continues at home.

  • Printed workbook per session
  • Home use prompt card
  • Written summary (Mediation)

Strict confidentiality

Nothing discussed in a Hearthen session is shared outside the room. We do not retain case notes beyond what participants take with them.

  • Session content stays private
  • No third-party disclosure
  • Minimal data retention

Genuinely neutral facilitation

Our facilitators do not take sides, advocate for any participant, or steer a group toward a particular outcome. The conclusions belong to the people in the room.

  • No advocacy role
  • Every voice heard equally
  • Participant-led outcomes

Sustained access, not just one session

The Family Communication Year membership gives households twelve months of workshop access and facilitated meetings — for those navigating a year of change.

  • All workshops included
  • 4 facilitated meetings/year
  • Up to 6 adults per household
Professional Expertise

Facilitators who know the craft

Community facilitation is a distinct practice. It requires knowing when to speak, when to stay quiet, and how to hold space for disagreement without letting the conversation collapse. Our team has developed these skills through formal training and years of practical work with household groups across the Klang Valley.

We are not counsellors, therapists, or legal advisors. We are facilitators — trained to manage the shape of a conversation, not its content. That distinction matters and we are clear about it with every participant from the first contact.

What this means in practice

  • Each session is pre-planned with a clear structure — not an open conversation without direction
  • Facilitators are trained to notice when a conversation is becoming unproductive and redirect calmly
  • For Family Mediation sessions, a pre-meeting is included so nothing in the room comes as a surprise
  • All facilitators participate in monthly peer review — the work stays sharp

What responsiveness looks like here

  • Enquiries are answered within one working day
  • We speak with you before recommending a session type
  • Accessibility considerations are addressed before every session on request
  • Studio hours are set to suit working households — Tuesday to Sunday
Service & Accessibility

A studio that is easy to work with

We keep the process straightforward. Send us a message or call the studio, and one of the team will come back to you within one working day. We will talk through your situation before suggesting which session suits your household best.

The venue at Jalan Imbi is central, accessible by public transport, and set up for quiet, focused conversation. We close on Mondays and are open on weekends to fit around working weeks.

Value & Pricing

Clear pricing, no hidden additions

Our session fees are listed clearly and include everything described — the pre-meeting for Mediation, the printed workbook, the written summary. There are no additional charges for materials or follow-up correspondence.

The Family Communication Year offers the strongest value for households who expect to use our services more than once during a year of transitions — a single membership covers workshops and four facilitated meetings for up to six adults in one household.

How Hearthen compares

General facilitation services vary considerably. Here is where our approach differs from less structured alternatives.

Typical alternatives

  • Sessions rely on facilitator's personal style with no fixed structure or framework
  • No pre-meeting — issues are discovered in the room for the first time
  • No written takeaway — participants rely on memory for what was agreed
  • Pricing unclear until late in the process
  • Single session only — no sustained option for households navigating longer periods
  • Availability limited to weekdays

The Hearthen approach

  • Every session follows a tested framework developed through formal facilitation training
  • One-hour pre-meeting included with Mediation — no surprises in the room
  • Printed workbook and written summary sent home with participants
  • All pricing listed clearly on our website — inclusive of materials
  • Annual membership for sustained household support across a year of transitions
  • Open Tuesday through Sunday to fit around working weeks

What only Hearthen offers

These are features that are particular to how we have designed the studio and its sessions.

A household membership model

The Family Communication Year is designed around the household unit rather than the individual — up to six adults in one household, one annual fee, sustained access throughout the year.

Written agreement summaries

After a Family Mediation session, participants receive a written summary of what was discussed and agreed. This is prepared for them, not for any third party, and is a practical document they can refer to at home.

Pre-meeting included in Mediation

The one-hour pre-meeting before every Family Mediation Facilitation is built into the fee — not an add-on. It allows the facilitator to understand the situation without everyone present, so the session itself is more productive.

A space that feels like a home, not an office

The studio at Jalan Imbi is designed around the feeling of a kitchen table rather than a boardroom. The physical environment is part of how we help participants feel settled enough to talk honestly.
